The WCMatcher class contains a single static method

public static boolean match(String mask, String target) {

which can be used to compare two strings using DOS wildcard characters and return results comparable with the behavior exhibited by MS-DOS. Note that the method is case insensitive (as is DOS) with a "todo" for a rainy day to allow case sensitive comparisons.
