Presents a side by side view of the two text files being compared, with the differences colourized. In addition to identifying lines that have been changed/inserted/deleted, it identifies lines that have been moved, but that fail to be matched because of separation by larger matching blocks (like X in "aXbbbbbbbc" and "abbbbbbbXc"). There are buttons for easy navigation between next/previous differences.
The files can be edited from within the comparison windows, and the changed files can be saved and recompared. There are easy merge operations for partially restoring selected changes. A "zoom" option lets you home in on the differences between two lines at the character level. There is a text search function with a regular expression capability; there is also a text search and replace if the program is in editing mode.
Latest changes (V1.5.4) allow direct navigation to any diff block (for example, go straight to diff 17), and user customization of the display font. V1.5.5 supports drag&drop and improved options at the character-by-character comparison level.
9th June, 2005 (V1.6.0): Limited Unicode support, plus ability to save window size and starting position.
