Installing the December Update
Important: You must have CodeGear RAD Studio or Update 3 for Delphi 2007/C++Builder 2007 installed for this patch to work. This patch will not install correctly on any previous versions. To be sure, open up the about box and ensure that you have version 11.0.2804.* installed. If the third number in that sequence is less than 2804, do not install this patch. Instead, run the auto-update mechanism to ensure that you have the latest version and then install this patch.
Upgrading via the Automatic Upgrade Mechanism
If you selected "Check for Updates Automatically" when you installed the product, you should automatically be notified when an update is available for download. Click the notification and follow the instructions to download and install the Update.
For more information on using the Auto Update mechanism (using Update 1), see http://dn.codegear.com/article/36611/.
Manually Checking for Updates
If you don't receive an automatic notification about the update, you can check for updates manually:
- Select Start | Programs | CodeGear RAD Studio | Check for updates.
- In the list of available updates, select December Update.
Downloading from the Registered Users Web Page
Download RADStudioDec2007setup.exe to your computer and run it to install the update.
Note: This update process might take twenty minutes or more to complete. You should avoid stopping the Update installation once it has started.
Installing over the "Unofficial RAD Studio 2007 Patch" from Andreas Hausladen
The update is a single EXE that does binary patching of the existing files on your machine. When it installs, it is doing an actual patching and altering of the existing files in your setup. It expects that you have official, "released-by-us files on your machine". Therefore, if you have applied Andreas Hausladen's "Unofficial RAD Studio 2007 Patch" then you will have to uninstall that patch before applying this official patch. His patch alters "official" files, and thus the installer will not be able to work right with the altered files.
REPEAT: YOU MUST UNINSTALL ANDREAS' PATCH BEFORE APPLYING THE OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM US.
Installing on Systems Running the Windows Vista™ Operating System
We have found that installing this patch on Windows Vista™ can take longer than installs done on XP. Installation of this patch on systems running the Windows Vista™ operating system can require a substantial amount of time. On some older systems, the install might take over 3 hours.
The Validating Install step takes the majority of the time. In this step, the install is accessing the registry and verifying the integrity of the installed files. These processes take considerably longer on Vista than on Windows XP or Windows 2000.
Uninstalling this Update
If you need to uninstall the patch, you must uninstall the entire product and reinstall the RTM build.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This means you cannot uninstall just the patch. If you wish to revert back to a pre-patch state, you must uninstall the entire product and then reinstall it.
